PointX CM Integration

The PointX CM feature provides administrators with centralized and remote management capabilities for WAVER devices through the PointX CM management system. This functionality allows centralized management of settings and configurations across multiple devices from a single dashboard.

Requirements

  • PointX CM Account: A valid account is required. Please contact support@wavertech.com for information on how to sign up for a PointX CM account.

  • Internet Connection: An internet connection is required for communication with the PointX CM server.

  • PointX CM Server Endpoint:
    • API Link: The server API URL for PointX CM account. 
    • API Key: A key provided by the PointX CM account for authentication. 

Key Features

  1. Centralized Access

    • Manage multiple devices remotely through the PointX CM dashboard.

  2. Automated Sync

    • Configure synchronization intervals for data exchange.

  3. Remote Management Controls

    • Access and modify device configurations, Captive Portal settings, and related records based on the assigned sync profile.

  4. Passive/API-Based Integration

    • Synchronization is performed via custom API endpoints using access keys. The device periodically connects to the centralized account to exchange data.




Register a Device with PointX CM

On the WAVER Device side:

  1. Login to Admin Panel

    • Access the Administration Panel of your WAVER Gateway.
    • Navigate to Integrations > PointX CM.

  2. Provide Server API Details

    • API Link: Enter the URL of your PointX CM server API
    • API Key: Input the secret API key provided by the PointX CM Settings page.

  3. Set Sync Intervals

    • Use the Sync Interval Slider to configure the frequency of synchronization (e.g., every 5–120 minutes).

  4. Save Configuration

    • Click the Save button to store your settings.

  5. Sync Immediately

    • Click the Sync Now button to trigger an immediate synchronization with the server.


On the PointX CM Side:

  1. Assign Device to Sync Profile

    • Log in to the PointX CM Dashboard.
    • Go to Devices and locate your WAVER device with a Pending status.

    • Assign the device to an existing Sync Profile (or create a new one).

Once assigned, the WAVER device can be centrally managed through PointX CM according to the configured sync profile.


Security Notices

  • Operator Responsibility: Operators are responsible for enabling PointX CM, defining synchronization scope, managing access credentials, and ensuring compliance with applicable data protection and security regulations.

  • Administrator Access: Activating PointX CM gives the remote server administrator access to user data, settings, configurations, and credentials and authentication data (as applicable) on the WAVER device.

  • Overwriting Changes: Local configurations such as Captive Portal content will be overwritten during synchronization if they differ from the remote configuration.

  • Protect API Key: Keep the API key confidential to prevent unauthorized access.



Troubleshooting

  • Sync Fails:

    • Verify Internet connectivity.
    • Ensure the API link and key are correct.
    • Ensure your PointX CM account has sufficient storage or device capacity.

  • Overwrites:

    • Review the remote server's configuration to ensure compatibility with local settings.

The PointX CM feature simplifies device management and is suitable for multi-point deployments. Operators should follow best practices and monitor system changes as part of normal operation.
