Network and Device Speed Limits

This guide provides instructions for configuring global network speed settings and individual device limits to optimize bandwidth usage for guests. By managing bandwidth allocations across different guest authentication methods such as Free Access, Facebook Login, Email Connect, Mobile Login, and Voucher Login, administrators can ensure a balanced and efficient network experience.

To configure Network Bandwidth Limits, Access the Admin Panel and navigate to Guest Network > Guest Limits. Below we are providing instructions for configuring global network speed settings and individual device limits:

Global Guest Network Bandwidth Limits

You can set the Maximum Download and Upload Speeds for the entire Guest Network.

  • Set the Maximum Download and Upload Speeds for the entire Guest Network to control overall bandwidth usage. These settings apply to both guest wireless networks and guest Ethernet ports.

Usage Example: Let's assume that the venue has a 1Gbps fiber connection and the manager would like to allocate only 750Mbps for all guests while reserving the remaining 250Mbps for staff usage. You can set the guest network limits accordingly (750 Mbps) using sliders, to ensure balanced and prioritized network performance.

Device Speed Limits for Free, Facebook, Email and Mobile users

Configures the Maximum Download and Upload Speeds for individual devices authenticated through Free Access, Facebook Login, Email Connect, or Mobile Login

  • Adjust the Maximum Download and Upload Speeds for each device connected through Free Access, Facebook Login, Email Connect, or Mobile Login.
  • Use the sliders provided to configure the speed limits, ensuring a balanced distribution of bandwidth for each guest.

Usage Example: If you want to ensure fair usage in a crowded Café or BnB, set a moderate speed limit per device so that all guests can browse comfortably without overloading the network. This allow balanced allocation of network resources, preventing any single user from consuming excessive bandwidth.

Limits for guests using Voucher Login method

Set the Maximum Download and Upload Speeds for individual devices accessing the network via Voucher Login. In this section, you can also configure the Maximum Concurrent Number of Devices allowed to connect using the same Voucher code, helping to prevent multiple users from sharing a single access code.

  • Adjust the Maximum Download and Upload Speeds for each device connected through Voucher Login.
  • Adjust the Maximum Concurrent number of guest devices allowed to connect using the same Voucher code.
  • Use the sliders provided to configure the speed and concurrent device limits.

Usage Example: In a Hotel WiFi network, you may want to limit each voucher to x concurrent devices with moderate speeds, ensuring guests can connect both their phone, tablet and laptop without overwhelming the network.
