AI Portal Builder
The AI Portal Builder allows you to create a complete, branded Captive Portal using artificial intelligence. The guided setup collects information about your business, portal goals, preferred tone, authentication methods, and required languages to generate a portal tailored to your venue and guests.
Important: The AI Portal Builder may update existing Captive Portal content and design when the generated portal is applied. Review your current portal configuration before proceeding. Moving through the setup steps does not affect the active portal until the final generation or application action is confirmed.
How the AI Portal Builder Works
The builder guides you through four stages:
- Business – Provide information about your company or venue.
- Goal & Tone – Define the portal’s purpose and communication style.
- Authentication – Select how guests will access the network.
- Languages – Choose the languages available to guests.
The information entered during these steps is used to generate suitable portal content, styling, authentication screens, and translations.
Business Setup
Enter the basic information the AI will use to personalize your Captive Portal.
Available fields include:
- Business Name – The name displayed throughout the portal.
- Business Type – Your venue type, such as a hotel, café, restaurant, mall, or public venue.
- Default Portal Language – The primary language presented to guests.
- Website – An optional website address that helps the AI understand your business and branding.
- Social Media Pages – Optional links to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TripAdvisor profiles.
Goal and Tone
Define what the Captive Portal should achieve and how it should communicate with guests.
Purpose/Goal
Select at least one objective for the portal. You may select multiple options:
- Promote the Brand – Highlight the business identity and improve brand awareness.
- Promote Offers & Loyalty – Present promotions, discounts, or loyalty incentives.
- Collect Customer Contacts – Encourage guests to provide contact information.
- Grow Reviews & Followers – Direct guests to review platforms or social-media pages.
- Play Promo Video – Include promotional video content in the guest journey.
- Other – Define a different or more specific portal objective.
The selected goals help the AI determine the portal’s content, structure, and calls to action.
Tone/Style
Choose the communication style used throughout the portal:
- Friendly – Warm and welcoming.
- Professional – Business-like and formal.
- Minimal – Simple and concise.
- Strict – Direct and to the point.
Portal Features
Additional portal features can be enabled:
- Enable Ad Page – Displays an advertisement or promotional page before granting Wi-Fi access.
- Enable Images – Uses AI-generated images instead of solid-color backgrounds and design elements.
After selecting the required options, click Next to continue to the Authentication step.
Authentication
Select the authentication methods that guests can use to access the network.
Available Login Methods
- Free Access – Allows guests to connect immediately without authentication. This option cannot be combined with another login method.
- Shared Password – Uses a single on-site password for all guests. Surveys or additional data-collection fields may also be displayed.
- Voucher Login – Requires each guest to enter a voucher username or code created through the Voucher Manager.
- Paid Access – Allows guests to purchase paid or time-limited access. Voucher Login must also be enabled.
- Email – Requires guests to enter an email address. Email access can be configured with or without OTP verification.
- Mobile (OTP) – Sends a one-time verification code by SMS to confirm the guest’s mobile number.
- Facebook Login – Allows guests to authenticate using their Facebook account.
Multiple authentication methods can be offered on the same portal, except when Free Access is selected.
After selecting the required login methods, click Next to continue to the Languages step.
Languages
Use this final step to configure optional multi-language support for the Captive Portal.
Auto-Translate with AI
Enable Auto-Translate with AI to automatically generate portal content in multiple languages. When enabled, guests can view the portal in their preferred language based on their device settings or select a language manually.
Selected Languages
Choose one or more additional languages to support. The default portal language selected during the Business Setup step is automatically excluded from this list. The AI generates translated content for each selected language.
Lock Brand Terms
Enable Lock Brand Terms to prevent the company name and other brand-specific terms from being translated. This helps maintain consistent brand names and terminology across all supported languages.
Generating Portal Concepts
After completing all four setup steps, click Generate. The AI will create three unique Captive Portal concepts based on your selections.
During generation, the system will:
- Analyse the business profile.
- Design the layout and colour palette.
- Write personalized portal content.
- Generate three different design concepts.
- Translate contents
Generation may take up to three minutes. Keep the page open until the process is complete.
Selecting a Portal Concept
Once generation is complete, three portal concepts are displayed for review.
Each concept may use a different:
- Layout and visual style.
- Colour palette.
- Content arrangement.
- Background or generated imagery.
- Presentation of authentication methods and calls to action.
Preview and compare the three concepts, then select the design that best matches your business and guest experience.
Only the selected concept is used to create the Captive Portal. Generating and previewing concepts does not modify the active portal until a design is selected and confirmed.
After Selecting a Concept
After confirming your preferred design, review the generated portal carefully.
You can then:
- Edit text, colours, images, and layout.
- Review the selected authentication methods.
- Check all generated translations.
- Update legal and consent texts.
- Apply custom CSS or JavaScript through the Theme Editor.
- Test the complete guest login process before deployment.
Notes and Best Practices
- Provide accurate business information for more relevant results.
- Include your website and social-media profiles when available.
- Use a clear portal goal rather than a general description.
- Review all generated content before publishing.
- Test every authentication method using a guest device.
- Verify the portal on both mobile and desktop screen sizes.
- Review all translations with a fluent speaker where possible.
- Do not enter confidential information or personal guest data into the builder.
- An active Internet connection and the appropriate WAVER+ service or licence may be required.
