Time Limits and Connection Keep-Alive
Guest Session Time Limits provide control over how long users can stay connected, how quickly they can reconnect and ensure that guests maintain their connection even when inactive and simplify access for those who frequently use the network. To configure Guest Session Limits, Access the Admin Panel and navigate to Guest Network > Guest Limits.
Guest Session Time Limits
You can set a time limit for each session, ensuring guests are disconnected once their session expires. Additionally, you can specify a reconnection time, which determines how long guests need to wait before they can log back in after being disconnected. These settings help optimize network usage and maintain fair access for all users.
- Guest Session Time Limit: Configure the maximum session duration for each user using Free Access, Facebook, Email or Mobile login. Once the limit is reached, the guest will be disconnected from the network.
- Guest Reconnection Time: Specify the waiting period before a guest can reconnect after their session limit has expired.
Usage Example: In a cafe, you might set a 2-hour session limit with a 30-minute reconnection time, allowing customers to enjoy internet access for a reasonable period while encouraging turnover during peak hours.
Session Settings
By configuring the Session Settings, you can ensure that guests maintain their connection even when inactive and simplify access for those who frequently use the network. This leads to improved user satisfaction and efficient network management.
- Session Keepalive: Enable continuous user connectivity, even if the guest is temporarily inactive on the network, minimizing frequent reconnections. This configuration will affect all guests connected via the Captive Portal.
- Remember Login Credentials (Voucher Guests): Allow returning Voucher Guests to automatically log in without re-entering their credentials.
Usage Example: In a Hotel WiFi environment, setting a higher Session Keepalive ensures that guests remain connected and do not lose their connection even if they step away from the property or network coverage.
Additionally, using the Remember Login Credentials feature allows returning guests using Voucher Authentication to log in automatically during the "remembering" period, enhancing their overall experience.
